House Bitters Old Fashioned

Bitters can be an intimidating, but they can be a creative and fun way to put your own spin on classic cocktail recipes. Think of bitters as concentrated flavoring agents – kind of like salt, pepper, or a flavorful sauce – just a few drops can add a lot of flavor to your cocktail! Every bar needs at least three types of bitters: Aromatic bitters, Peychaud’s Bitters, and Orange Bitters, but a true cocktail connoisseur’s bar has many more types of bitters - including their own blends.

While making bitters can be extremely difficult and time consuming, Ethan + Ashe has made it extremely easy with their House Bitters Infusion Kit – a blend that will impress guests and seasoned bartenders alike. Simply add high proof spirit such as 100 proof vodka or Everclear to your Alkemista infusion bottle with the House Bitters Blend, and let sit for 5-10 days, and then transfer into a dasher bottle before serving.

We love these House Bitters in a classic Old Fashioned, a canonical cocktail that is a perfect canvas for interpretation. The formula for the cocktail is devastatingly simple: spirit, sugar, and bitters, and with a simple tweak to one ingredient can make a whole new cocktail.

Happy tweaking!
